I know this is a RC site but i also know that some of you are halo fans as well...so heres what i have to say.

                                                               THE FLOOD

The Flood is a huge campaign that involves the entire Halo Nation. The objective is to flood the Halo Nation with all kinds of media based on a centralized story idea. On the day before Halo 3's release the Halo Nation will vote for the best project from each category. Then, you guessed it, we'll showcase the best of the best from each category on Halo 3's release day. The main objective, however, is to produce as much media as possible to celebrate and honor all that Halo 2 has inspired us to do. The Categories, as well as sub-categories, include:

Machinima
Comedy
Action/Drama
Horror
Music Video

Fanfiction
Original Music
Artwork
Comics

The great thing about The Flood is that all of these projects will concentrate on the chosen idea. The focus (idea) of all of these projects is: a group of separated soldiers must fight their way though an army of aliens to get home. This idea represents what Halo mostly is. All projects must, in some way, represent this focus or they will not be accepted. The thing about The Flood is that it needs everyone to come together to create as many different products before Halo 3's release. If you feel like making 10 music videos to represent the focus, then by all means go for it!

for more details, as well as all projects that have been submitted.

Please e-mail a link to your project to

Don't forget to spread the word!

This is a tribute, this is a celebration, this is a Flood.

Maps in Progress / DM_Dawn Torch
January 04, 2007, 04:22:28 PM
Well im a little sick of all the Star Wars themed maps....yeah i know its a Star Wars game but we should open up our creative sides and unleash whatever comes out...good or bad. Taking themes from other games that we like and translating them into the Commando universe could help to encourage and support creativity, but not EXACT translations. Take the theme and make it your own....add something here, there...heck why not over there? I know this is starting to sound like im preaching but all im trying to do is stir up the creative juices in all of us, or at least make the Dust of CreativityTM collecting on your desk persuade you to map some amazing maps. Which is where i come to DM_Dawn Torch. I recently finished Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and got tons of ideas from it. I started with a small room...worked my way up to the wooden rafters, stone support, open roof, etc... and soon was struck with an excellent idea. I tried it, it worked.. and im still adding more to this map.....AND NOT USING STATIC MESHES. Yup call me crazy but to actualy form more of the enviroment and not make custom SM i decided the only way was to make it in game with the cube, cylinder, sphere, you know those shapes. So far its working extremly well but possibly because i dont need all that detailed stuff for this map. This is my opinion, all i want to do is tell you what im trying, what works, what doesnt, and what should be the next creative opportunity. So all i ask you is... think...try...revise...perfect...publish.

General / [Halo Mod for BF2]...i know its off topic
November 07, 2006, 01:18:53 PM
Many of you probably play BF2 or Halo or both, and to combine the two would be a breathtakingly killer sweet  mod for BF2. A group of people have already started on this and they need help. I know this is the "Unreal Modders Forum" but i wanted to spread the word of this awesome mod-in-progress. If anyone does want to help or just check out what little they have done, head on over to  //http://www.bf2552.moddb.com/ and see for yourself.

In this tutorial you will find out how to make any pawn (i hope, because i only tried with the Droideka, but in theory it should work) recognize only the player as the enemy, not other pawns of the same type.
----------
Step 1
----------
Load up your favorite map, or one you want to add pawns to, and select a pawn to use. Place as many as you want onto the map. Right click on your pawn, scroll to select, and then "All (whatever pawn you picked)" Right click again to go to "Actor Properties"

----------
Step 2
----------
On the "Actor Properties" list find {Hidden} as diagramed in pic below.

----------
Step 3
----------
In the list under {Hidden} scroll down to "bValidEnemy" and change the value to "False" as diagramed in the pic below.

----------
Step 4
----------
Build All (i dont think this is nessecary but what the heck, do it to be safe) and save the map.

When the map loads get ready!!! There aware of your presence!!!

Carefull!! They do shoot back......

with incredible accuracy!!!

Enjoy!!

Completed Maps / DM_Trando Cavern
October 17, 2006, 11:12:22 AM
For my second map [:o] I decided to go with a cave or cavern setting. To get some info on the actual look and feel of one, i took a little trip to Luarel Caverns, a cave about 1 hour away from where i live. After the 1 hour tour, i had enough info to start construction on my map. I worked all weekend on it, putting in about 7 hours of work. I dont really know how long it takes everyone else to map but oh well it took me 7 hours on this one. Except to see screens later today!!!
