So around a year ago I started doing videos on YouTube, making a Let's Play of Minecraft, I had always intended to do one for Republic Commando, and a year later I have started one.

Right now I am playing through the single player campaign, then I want to do a couple multiplayer video, and after that it will depend on how many views the series gets if I continue or not.

Republic Commando playlist

Currently, episode 3 is released, on Tuesday at 5pm PST is when the next video comes out.

The Unreal Modders Haven is Once again fully Operational. Get back to using the tutorials and downloading our maps.

For anyone that knows a bit of php, when I wrote this website php5 wasn't around, so I used the current mysql library. Where as with php5 now you should be using mysqli (i for improved) or the other database library. Basically I had to go in and change the database queries over to the new way.

First I had to learn the new one, and come to terms with its quirks, then it went even faster than I expected.

If anyone gets an error message on a page you should reply to this post, and I'll fix it.

News and Announcements / Broken Website
April 22, 2013, 10:09:20 AM
If you look on the website, you probably noticed that most of it is broken.

Its a change in php that requires me to change code on every page...On pages such as tutorials or Downloads the code is used multiple times on each page.

It may take a while to have the website operational again.

The Forums will not be effected by this.

Daz 3D has made three programs free for the remainder of April. These are for the Pro version, with serial keys that would cost over $800 at the retail price.

To download go to the Daz 3D website, you will have to register an account, then buy the software (for free) No credit card of payment information is required.

What you get:
Daz Studio - A 3D character/scene creator, that can create some nice renders easily. You can also use it to render interior scene, or even outdoor (but Bryce is better for Outdoor)

Bryce - You can use Bryce to create an outdoor landscape scene , and even place the characters you pose in Daz Studio inside your outdoor setting. You can also use Bryce to generate heightmaps that you could then import into Unreal Engine, Ace of Spades, or any other Game engine that uses Heightmaps for terrain.

Hexagon - a 3D modeling application, that allows you to create 3D models in an intuitive way. Its one of the easiest ones that I have used (even easier than Wings3D) and seemed to have a good amount of power behind it.

(Maybe if I learn patience soon enough and manage to model something decent I'll post a screenshot.)

I think it is worth the few minutes it takes to register and get the software.

Update: As of 5/4/2012 it looks as though the Saz Software is still free, they haven't given a expiration date for it this time.

General / Untitled Game
January 28, 2012, 01:22:36 PM
I've been working on a small Art Game for the past several months. Just recently I released the 3rd beta of the game that added an Online leaderbaord that you can submit your score too.

I just want to mention that the game is not an RPG, action, or standard platformer. Its a score game (think pacman) mixed in with a color changing gameplay.

I would really like to get some feedback on the game before the next (most likely last) beta. So if you try it, and have feedback post it, or email me ( sandcrawler@allaroundgames.net )

I hope you'll play the game, and post your highscores.

News and Announcements / Help Stop SOPA
January 13, 2012, 05:15:56 PM
This website, and All Around Games (http://allaroundgames.net) will be participating in the SOPA Blackout on January 18th.

On the 18th you will be unable to reach this website, instead you will be redirected to a website containing information about how you can help stop SOPA.

If SOPA passes this website will undoubtedly be taken down, due to the very nature of the names, and the images on the website.  Forums will also disappear at a rapid pace if SOPA is passed, SOPA makes the owner of the website responsible for all content on the website, including forum posts. Meaning if someone even post an image of Spiderman on the forums, or uses it in a signature the website would not only be blocked, but I could be charged.

SOPA present a big problem for the Sandcrawler Network websites, because there is a lot of information that is user uploaded. So help stop it if you want this website to continue.

PS: PIPA is almost the same as SOPA, and also has to be stopped.

PSS. I don't normally get involved in politics, but this effect the internet, something that we should all care greatly about.

Announcements / Announcing Untitled
August 26, 2011, 05:48:09 PM
Untitled is an abstract platform game, in it you are attempting to escape from the Abstract painting, and set the highest score.

A prototype of this game was developed last weekend, in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 21, there were many features cut, and stuff left unpolished that I am adding to the game.

Most of the Devlog will be over at Indiedb.com on the games page. With beta announcements made here as well as on Indiedb.

News and Announcements / This Weekend
August 21, 2011, 11:03:16 PM
This weekend was a rather busy one, what with Ludum Dare going on. I still accomplished a few things with the website.

- New Ace of Spades Tutorial (Pyspades Map Editor)
- Changes to the tutorials pages (backend admin stuff and almost no one will ever see :) )
- Changes to the Servers page, to reflect the fact that we have two Killing Floor Servers, and one Ace of Spades server.

The servers we have:

32 Slot Ace of Spades Server
aos://182968642

All of these servers are hosted by Jest Servers:
http://main.jestservers.com/

You'd be hard pressed to find a better Game Server host, so if your going to rent a Game Server give him a try...he'll host almost anything :)

Expect some additional changes to the website soon, I want to get all of the pages looking more alike, So Contests, Links, Servers, and FAQ pages need to be updates...or removed :P

Completed Maps / [AoS] Slam
August 12, 2011, 07:01:10 PM
With this map I wanted to force all players to a certain central area of the map, I decided to go with a canyon, there are no bridges to cross this canyon, but there are stairs to the bottom of the map, where you can then cross to the other side. There are three sets of stairs on each side, you could destroy two and defend one, or defend all tree, or you could defend them down at the bottom as well. I wanted to make all of the players cross the central area, rather than allow for bottom of the map diggers that will rarely be seen again.

News and Announcements / Website Changes
August 09, 2011, 06:06:24 PM
* New Page Navigation for Tutorials and Downloads
* New Collapsible Sections on Tutorials and Downloads, with cookie setting goodness for remembering what was open and closed
* Misc changes to tutorials and downloads pages
* New feature on tutorials, add your own tutorials
* New feature on tutorials, update/edit your tutorials

* New Game support added (see the next post for more details :)
#13
First you are able to format your tutorial using BBCode, for the most part you can use all standard BBCode for bold, italics, underline, images, and links.

There is one new BBCode that was added, that one is [timg][/timg] It stands for tutorial image, you use it almost the same way as the img BBCode except you use just the filename for the image, instead of the URL of the image.

When you go to upload the tutorial it will ask for a zip folder, inside the zip folder should be a tutorial.txt file (formatted with BB code), along with any images you created for the tutorial. Just upload the zipped folder and it will do the rest.

You can download an Example zip folder, that has been formatted, and added to the tutorials page.
The Tutorial once added: Ace of Spades: Getting Started

Announcements / New Site Launch/Relaunch
August 09, 2011, 12:14:44 AM
I've decided to go ahead and relaunch/launch a new old site now called All Around Games.

Just some of the old pages that had nowhere to go from the old website, the Video page for one, as well as the donation page.

I plan to add some additional tools to it later (one for a Minecraft Mod), as well as possibly allowing users to post their own news here in this forum.

So you'd be able to announce project, and/or the release of maps and whatnot. The thought is that this would become the Gamers website for downloading the maps and mods from Unreal Modders Haven.

Please use a prefix when posting new maps, it will help keep this forum more organised, even with multiple games posting in here.

News and Announcements / Newish Features
July 13, 2011, 05:15:49 PM
*I finished adding the Edit/Update feature for the Downloads Section.
http://umh.sandcrawler.net/index.php?page=addafile&command=update

*Added a Gallery Page (shows all images you have uploaded)
http://umh.sandcrawler.net/index.php?page=addafile&command=gallery

The Update Map entry page was redone to include the categories as well as a few other improvements over the old page. If you are updating old maps that have been on the website for a while you will want to be away of the Legacy Download option. This option just means that it is pointing the download to the old file location, I didn't move any of the files when we changed websites, so some of them will be Legacy. You will have to upload a new file if you want to change it. But it doesn't hurt anything if you leave it :) The other problem is in the Screenshot Box, you will want to check and make sure that there is only one image link per line. I'm going to be looking for a better way to do the screenshots in the future...preferably visually.

The Gallery page is less of a gallery and more of a list...One of the problems with the Update page was how to let you see the images you were adding to your Map Download page. This was a simple solution that will work for now.

I was learning a new Programing Language so I decided to write a replacement for the old Map Utility.

For now there is no GUI for it, if its used much I'll think about adding one, or creating a webpage to generate the .ini file anyways. But TBH there are only three field per map that need to be filled in, so it really easy to just edit the ini file.

You can have any number of maps "installed" along side each other, just add more chunks to the in and increment (see the ReadMe for more)

This uses the Registry Key so it will work with custom install directory, Steam, or w/e.

This is a small Utility program that will add your map, or maps to the Level Loading Screen, as well as the In game Selection Menu.

Download:
http://umh.sandcrawler.net/index.php?page=downloads&command=view&id=225

My suggestion is you create a zip folder for your maps, that just have to be unzipped to the Root RC folder, were the player would just need to run this utility.

Any Questions? Or requests?

News and Announcements / Website Updates
March 28, 2011, 06:48:00 PM
I updated a number of things on the website, as well as added some new features.

I added Facebook Connect/Integration to the forums, so now rather than needing to fill out the registration form with your email, and whatnot you click Facebook Connect, put in your Nickname, and a password. Thats it, then when you come back and need to login you click the Login link, then Facebook Connect. Existing members can also link their Facebook Accounts with your account here and Login the same way. There are Also Facebook Like buttons on a number of pages, The forums, as well as the Downloads and Tutorial pages. So Like Away, but because the world isn't fair you can't dislike anything :D

To the Unreal Modders Haven site I updated a few pages, the biggest change is on the Tutorial page, it will now list all of the tutorials, instead of the dropdown menu. It gives the page some meat instead of looking to slim. I also added Mobile Browsing, now if you view the website using a Browser with a screen resolution less than 800 by 600, then you will be redirected to the Mobile version. You can also click the WAP2 link at the bottom of the page. O and the disclaimer page is back.

General / Public Adress to Team Furby Members
February 01, 2011, 07:08:16 PM
All regular Sandcrawler.net Users feel free to disregard this topic.

If your a Team Furby member, and wondering what happened to the TF website, continue reading. Basically since Bacon left TF on 10/03/2010 I have been hosting the website for free. This was never my intention, but it happened at the wrong time (faimly member passed away, around then) Later in October I contacted a member (not giving names) about the website, and we talked about it, but nothing ever happened higher up. Then January seconds I contacted another member about the website, and it was supposed to be taken care of by January 20th. I don't recieve an email from the member who was going to handle it until the 19th of January. I give my respounce of prices and whatnot, they ask me to wait a bit for thier reply. That was 12 days ago.

The point being, that I gave a generous number of chances to keep the forums and website, now they are mine, and the domain is registered to me for another 6 months.
