Title: [RC] Working on mini campaign
Post by: BlueBlankey on September 10, 2010, 11:51:40 AM
Do single player missions count? As in, do they have to be multiplayer, or can custom scenarios in progress be posted?

They're maps arn't they?

Single player, multiplayer, Co-Op. It doesn't matter.

Cools- Just making sure. Don't want to barge in on anything  :D
What I'm working on is a three part mini campaign based on a RAS. But instead of an assault ship it'll be more of a cruise liner.

The bowling ball return works, and I plan on the pin reset to work too.

This is the second part. The WIP first part- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQVSxzEXHsk (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YQVSxzEXHsk)
(Just a silly walk through)

The second part will also have an ice rink and a laser tag arena.
It'll progressively either get more extravagant or more "bilgey" depending on which way you chose-
either fight trandoshians with 62 at the laser tag arena or fight droidekas with 40 at the icerink.
Then you're stuck with him until the "epic battle" at the end.

But that's just a lot of talk. I still have a long ways to go  :-[

So, any experience with AI? I get the whole path node thing, but what's the difference between a combat point and a regular path node?
Well anyway, here's the ice rink-

Grievous guards will jump off from the bleachers and there will be some droideka dispensers.
The AIs don't seem to be affected by the low friction on the ice rink, so unlucky you.
(That guy to the right is my size comparison man- ignore him)

Not 100% sure as I haven't pathed for RC, and KF doesn't have a combat point. I would look in the existing campaigns and see where they used them...if they used them. From the way it soudns it could do 1 or 2 things.

1. It could tell the AI to gather at that point and prepare for combat, it would basicly be the same as setting the cost up on certain pathnodes so they go one way over another most of the time.

2. It could tell your squad members where to kneel, and snipe or w/e.

With pathing you want to cover a map, with as few of path nodes as possible, Don't be to stengy, but placing to many will decrease the performance of the map. Not enoguh will degrade where the AI can reach you and make big dead zones in the map.

Yeah, I don't want the player hiding up in the bleachers- and the ramps don't seem very droideka ergonomic. As long as I keep the cover simple on the main floor, there shouldn't be much a problem there.
I hope these combat points work with jump destinations- I don't want the guards to follow you around on the top entirely by jumping.

To keep them from jumping back up just disable that path, its in properties exclude or something like that.

Yes- all of the things like bowling/hockey would work, but it would be more of a side thing. (Like shooting a bowling ball into the pins and then resetting, some hockey pucks laying around, ect.) I'm not good enough to actually make it into a big mini game.
I'm open to suggestions for part three- what does anyone want to fight in?

(as a side note, my karma is -1. what did I do wrong!  ??? If it's a participation issue I'm sorry)
