if you've Vista like me you might get it to work by starting up the game, go to the video settings, turn bumpmapping off or set it to low, apply the settings and quit the game.

try running UnrealEd again, for me it started after doing that (it's a common problem)

that's one way, another one i used while starting on a project was creating a huge add box and put smaller substracted boxes in it for multiple floors, doors, windows and holes for stairs and stuff.

and there's another way i wanted to use when i finished my Open Office map; first create your building using the substract method you learned from the tutorials; after that you put a huge add box all over it (all you built within will disappear, but by selecting the big box brush, rightclicking on it and changing the order to first (or first selected or first built or whatever, it's something that makes sure the big add box is built first and all substractions are built later within)

I don't know whether someone has already found a solution to this problem, but unfortunately I haven't and it's still bugging me.

I'm not sure whether this is a Vista related problem or a hardware related problem, but my Sony Vaio lapotop is able to run XP well - I just have to take the time to reinstall my computer and install both Vista and XP (or perhaps Windows 7 and XP).

This is the main reason keeping me from mapping for RC, and since I'm not even sure why it crashes it's hard for me to find a solution.
Help would be appreciated.

Yes, you are talking about a mod I suppose...?
What I mean is just a string of text to type in, giving you the right texture or shader, applyable in all regular multiplayer games.

Nope, I have to do that anyway, because otherwise my UnrealEd won't even start up :0
The problem is texture quality neither, I've been experimenting with that as well.

If one of you is going to make mandalorians I recommend using the commandos rather than the regular clones, because of the fin, health and probably accuracy. I've seen some clone-mando's before and it just looks odd :)

Reflecting the environment is very hard to make. You could make an environmental map, an image your mirror should reflect in different ways from different angles.
Unfortunately I don't know how to do that.

Clones look cool though :D

I don't have any idea why, but when I'm browsing through the textures browser it crashes the whole program.
I need one of the trando shaders so I go to the CloneTextures -> TrandoshanTextures but as soon as I get closer to the bottom of the list my editor crashes.... >:o
I tried switching my texture quality from higherst to medium, but it's still messing around :

It's just an esthetic question, but is it possible to type in a string of text to give the hudarms from your multiplayer commando the right texture; because no matter what kind of commando you usually choose, he will have white hands and wrists.
There are textures for the right hudarms, but I don't know the right code you'd have to type in.

Simply make a stairs, place it into your ceiling and use the substract button.

When I had trouble starting up RC on my new computer I used this information from SecuROM:

If you would like to find out what there is on your computer that keeps the copy-protected application from starting although there is an original disc in the drive, please follow the procedure below and submit the resulting AnalysisLog.sr0 file to support@securom.com for evaluation along with the name of the software you cannot start.


They also wanted me to send a screenshot from the error screen.
After about ten minutes you'll probably get an auto-reply; reply this email and say that your problem cannot be solved by the information on their site  :?  and within a day you'll probably have a new SWRepublicCommando.exe in your inbox :D

I can run bumpmapping on high now; the only thing I have to remember is switching it to low before I quit RC, because otherwise my UnrealEd crashes at startup.
Hopefully it works for you guys as well :)
