Properties Editing / Re: Mutators
January 27, 2012, 07:47:31 AM
I know there are a few people who have messed with RC Unreal script.

The best thing would be to find a tutorial that is in depth, (the rocket one was specific for UT) More than likely the only thing wrong in the rocket script you linked to is a few declarations of variables, and class names. (like the PAWN, probably others)

News and Announcements / Re: Help Stop SOPA
January 18, 2012, 04:15:29 PM
We are back up a few hours early, so I can release my sopajam game.

I just hope that with all the websites down in protest today then maybe they will decide its not worth supporting the acts.

News and Announcements / Re: Help Stop SOPA
January 16, 2012, 12:36:47 PM
To reply to a few things:

- First SOPA, and PIPA have been spearheaded by the MPAA and RIAA, with backing from huge companies like Sony, and Viacom. The justification for the bill is that internet piracy is cost the music, and movie industries jobs. The reality of that is that music and movies are shrinking because there are other forums of entertainment, that is more affordable (Video games).

- I will be transferring the site elsewhere if SOPA or PIPA pass. But someone else will have to host and run it. Once the website was blocked, no-one in the US would be able to access it, but it would still be hosted in the EU. If my name was still listed for the hosting, they could still come after me.

Now for some good news
-SOPA is being shelved (if there is no consensus it will be shelved), after they have seen response to the bills from the internet communities.  As well as politicians that are opposed to the bill.

- That leaves PIPA, the bill that has been in the background so far. Now its really time to go after PIPA and stop that bill (it was on a  fast track to be passed priory to the winter break)

- The white house has spoken out against SOPA, and indirectly PIPA.

My websites will still blackout on the 18th, and be redirect to a page about the bills.

I am also working on a small game in protest of SOPA, PIPA, and DNS blocking as a whole. It will be released on the 18th (more likely the 19th due to the blackout) I'll be posting more on that soon (on the All Around Games website)

News and Announcements / Help Stop SOPA
January 13, 2012, 05:15:56 PM
This website, and All Around Games (http://allaroundgames.net) will be participating in the SOPA Blackout on January 18th.

On the 18th you will be unable to reach this website, instead you will be redirected to a website containing information about how you can help stop SOPA.

If SOPA passes this website will undoubtedly be taken down, due to the very nature of the names, and the images on the website.  Forums will also disappear at a rapid pace if SOPA is passed, SOPA makes the owner of the website responsible for all content on the website, including forum posts. Meaning if someone even post an image of Spiderman on the forums, or uses it in a signature the website would not only be blocked, but I could be charged.

SOPA present a big problem for the Sandcrawler Network websites, because there is a lot of information that is user uploaded. So help stop it if you want this website to continue.

PS: PIPA is almost the same as SOPA, and also has to be stopped.

PSS. I don't normally get involved in politics, but this effect the internet, something that we should all care greatly about.

Announcements / Announcing Untitled
August 26, 2011, 05:48:09 PM
Untitled is an abstract platform game, in it you are attempting to escape from the Abstract painting, and set the highest score.

A prototype of this game was developed last weekend, in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 21, there were many features cut, and stuff left unpolished that I am adding to the game.

Most of the Devlog will be over at Indiedb.com on the games page. With beta announcements made here as well as on Indiedb.

News and Announcements / This Weekend
August 21, 2011, 11:03:16 PM
This weekend was a rather busy one, what with Ludum Dare going on. I still accomplished a few things with the website.

- New Ace of Spades Tutorial (Pyspades Map Editor)
- Changes to the tutorials pages (backend admin stuff and almost no one will ever see :) )
- Changes to the Servers page, to reflect the fact that we have two Killing Floor Servers, and one Ace of Spades server.

The servers we have:

32 Slot Ace of Spades Server
aos://182968642

All of these servers are hosted by Jest Servers:
http://main.jestservers.com/

You'd be hard pressed to find a better Game Server host, so if your going to rent a Game Server give him a try...he'll host almost anything :)

Expect some additional changes to the website soon, I want to get all of the pages looking more alike, So Contests, Links, Servers, and FAQ pages need to be updates...or removed :P

Completed Maps / [AoS] Slam
August 12, 2011, 07:01:10 PM
With this map I wanted to force all players to a certain central area of the map, I decided to go with a canyon, there are no bridges to cross this canyon, but there are stairs to the bottom of the map, where you can then cross to the other side. There are three sets of stairs on each side, you could destroy two and defend one, or defend all tree, or you could defend them down at the bottom as well. I wanted to make all of the players cross the central area, rather than allow for bottom of the map diggers that will rarely be seen again.

First you are able to format your tutorial using BBCode, for the most part you can use all standard BBCode for bold, italics, underline, images, and links.

There is one new BBCode that was added, that one is [timg][/timg] It stands for tutorial image, you use it almost the same way as the img BBCode except you use just the filename for the image, instead of the URL of the image.

When you go to upload the tutorial it will ask for a zip folder, inside the zip folder should be a tutorial.txt file (formatted with BB code), along with any images you created for the tutorial. Just upload the zipped folder and it will do the rest.

You can download an Example zip folder, that has been formatted, and added to the tutorials page.
The Tutorial once added: Ace of Spades: Getting Started

Announcements / New Site Launch/Relaunch
August 09, 2011, 12:14:44 AM
I've decided to go ahead and relaunch/launch a new old site now called All Around Games.

Just some of the old pages that had nowhere to go from the old website, the Video page for one, as well as the donation page.

I plan to add some additional tools to it later (one for a Minecraft Mod), as well as possibly allowing users to post their own news here in this forum.

So you'd be able to announce project, and/or the release of maps and whatnot. The thought is that this would become the Gamers website for downloading the maps and mods from Unreal Modders Haven.

Maps in Progress / Please use a Prefix
August 08, 2011, 10:27:52 PM
Please use a prefix when posting new maps, it will help keep this forum more organised, even with multiple games posting in here.

UT04 run on unreal Engine 2

RC runs on unreal engine 2.5...a heavily modified version of it to top it off, that why there are so many problems with it. Most of the features they added are little more than bad hacks. (such as bump mapping.)

Look for something else running UE2.5 and you may get lucky.

News and Announcements / Newish Features
July 13, 2011, 05:15:49 PM
*I finished adding the Edit/Update feature for the Downloads Section.
http://umh.sandcrawler.net/index.php?page=addafile&command=update

*Added a Gallery Page (shows all images you have uploaded)
http://umh.sandcrawler.net/index.php?page=addafile&command=gallery

The Update Map entry page was redone to include the categories as well as a few other improvements over the old page. If you are updating old maps that have been on the website for a while you will want to be away of the Legacy Download option. This option just means that it is pointing the download to the old file location, I didn't move any of the files when we changed websites, so some of them will be Legacy. You will have to upload a new file if you want to change it. But it doesn't hurt anything if you leave it :) The other problem is in the Screenshot Box, you will want to check and make sure that there is only one image link per line. I'm going to be looking for a better way to do the screenshots in the future...preferably visually.

The Gallery page is less of a gallery and more of a list...One of the problems with the Update page was how to let you see the images you were adding to your Map Download page. This was a simple solution that will work for now.

Completed Maps / Re: Sub Base
July 13, 2011, 12:38:52 PM
I guess I explained it wrong. The max file size is around 64 mega bytes. But you need a fast Internet connect and more specifically a fast upload speed to upload a file that size. Otherwise the web browser times out and stops uploading after five minutes of uploading. My upload speed is 20kb/sec at its best (10 is the lowest I've seen) So to upload Sub Base it would take me 8.3 minutes, if my upload speed stayed consistent, after five minutes the server stops the script to make cut down on the server load.

With the hosting I have I can't change the timeout limit, that would allow for bigger files to be uploaded.
