To reply to a few things:
- First SOPA, and PIPA have been spearheaded by the MPAA and RIAA, with backing from huge companies like Sony, and Viacom. The justification for the bill is that internet piracy is cost the music, and movie industries jobs. The reality of that is that music and movies are shrinking because there are other forums of entertainment, that is more affordable (Video games).
- I will be transferring the site elsewhere if SOPA or PIPA pass. But someone else will have to host and run it. Once the website was blocked, no-one in the US would be able to access it, but it would still be hosted in the EU. If my name was still listed for the hosting, they could still come after me.
Now for some good news
-SOPA is being shelved (if there is no consensus it will be shelved), after they have seen response to the bills from the internet communities. As well as politicians that are opposed to the bill.
- That leaves PIPA, the bill that has been in the background so far. Now its really time to go after PIPA and stop that bill (it was on a fast track to be passed priory to the winter break)
- The white house has spoken out against SOPA, and indirectly PIPA.
My websites will still blackout on the 18th, and be redirect to a page about the bills.
I am also working on a small game in protest of SOPA, PIPA, and DNS blocking as a whole. It will be released on the 18th (more likely the 19th due to the blackout) I'll be posting more on that soon (on the All Around Games website)
