What does "reverse engineering" actually mean? o_O

i was lookin at my RC disk and it said 'No Reverse Engineering'... uh oh. wat is that? is it like moddin something?

reverse engineering means that you are not allowed to hack the software and modify it / Read the original code. The software is compiled and you must not decompile it.

nah. You are allowed to fiddle around with the scripts and stuff, but in the development the devs also wrote real programming language such as C++ (i guess they used that) to code the game. Then they used a compiler to translate the programming language in a language the computer understands. Some machinecode or sth, dunno what exactly happens while compiling. Consult wiki^^
Infact reverse engineering (as the word says) is developing the game backwards. Actually decompiling it to view (and modify) the human-readable programming language.

hey, am i allowed to completely re-make the game into any other game so long as i don't mess with source code and offer as a free mod?

i guess so, yes. There are mods for any other game outthere as well. Of course everyone who wants to play the mod has to have bought the game, too.

the real definition of reverse engineering:verb.to take an object apart to figure out how it works and how it is made like the russians did with our guns
