Problem (static meshes are black)

My problem is that my static meshes are black. How can I fix this? Has enyone a idea ?

How did you add them to the map?

i get it all the time, build all and save

lol, nope, wrong too...sorda. you have to subtract a box, add ambient light, then build all. i dunno why.

From my experiances with SM, they are only black when there is no Lighting in the room. There have been tiems when they are messed up and a build > Rebuild Geometry fixes it.

True. Since UnrealEngine uses Vertex lighting, its also possible that no vertex can be lit. For example if you made a door and put it outside a subtracted brush. Light gets blocked by surfaces (except sheets, afaik) and since you dont have per-pixel-lighting, the SM will turn out black, if vertices are within walls, even if you can see parts of it.
